This program from our catalog is not on our current schedule of courses. For additional information email executive.education@uncc.edu. “Meetings are where teams come to life. Run well, meetings capitalize on the talents and diversity of department members. But done poorly, they only serve to waste time, increase frustration, and drain energy.” – Dr. Steven G. Rogelberg. His hit book, The Surprising Science of Meetings: How You Can Lead Your Team to Peak Performance, is available now.

This immersive program brings a sharp and strategic light to an activity typically taken for granted – the meeting. A recent estimate suggests that employees endure a staggering 55 million meetings a day in the United States. Sadly, most meetings fail to engage us, or even worse, blatantly disregard our time.

There is now a meeting science that brings tools and solutions forward to solve the meeting “problem.” Dr. Rogelberg has uncovered an exciting evidence-based path that allows teams and organizations to realize the true potential of meeting. Given that meetings are where we spend so much of our time collaborating, creating, and communicating, it is more important than ever to get the most out of each one.

During this program, participants will:

  • Get a quick primer on what we know about meetings from an evidence-based perspective. Dr. Rogelberg shares the research that formed the basis of his forthcoming book, The Surprising Science of Meetings: How You Can Lead your Team to Peak Performance.
  • Gain knowledge and resources on how to effectively lead meetings to promote effectiveness and innovation during highly interactive discussions that go way beyond simple and predictable instruction about using an agenda. Dr. Rogelberg incorporates servant leadership notions into the conversation as well – a powerful leadership paradigm that has direct implications for meeting management.
  • Learn unconventional approaches to your meetings, establish better practices to take back to the office immediately, and discover a new mindset that drives value and ROI.

This program is designed for executives, managers and supervisors, and professionals from any industry who want to improve team performance by leading more effective meetings. After “The Surprising Science of Meetings: How You Can Lead your Team to Peak Performance,” you will leave with a clear plan to help make the time you dedicate to meetings more productive.
